IGNOU's Grading System
IGNOU uses a 10-point grading scale system. Your performance in each course is measured by a Grade Point (GP) on this scale.
Grade Point Table
| Grade | Grade Point | Marks Range | Description |
| O | 10 | 90–100% | Outstanding |
| A+ | 9 | 80–89% | Excellent |
| A | 8 | 70–79% | Very Good |
| B+ | 7 | 60–69% | Good |
| B | 6 | 55–59% | Above Average |
| C | 5 | 50–54% | Average |
| D | 4 | 40–49% | Pass |
| F | 0 | Below 40% | Fail |
How Is CGPA Calculated?
CGPA = (Sum of Grade Points × Credits) ÷ Total Credits Earned
Example: If you have 5 courses:
CGPA = (32+28+36+24+32) ÷ 20 = 7.6
Converting CGPA to Percentage
IGNOU does not officially publish a CGPA-to-percentage formula, but the commonly accepted calculation is:
Percentage = CGPA × 9.5
So a 7.6 CGPA ≈ 72.2%
